This B-17 exploded in midair over german village Crottendorf, breaking to some parts. After crash exploded the bomb load, which almost completely destroyed two hauses in Crottendorf. Five crewmembers from this plane were killed...

First contact in relation to this crew we were able to set in 1997. Daghter of the copilot, Monica Potts (USAF) attended the museum opening ceremony. Two other daughters and widow of Howard Potts, we met the very next year when visited our museum and the crashsite (and once more in Omaha, NE, 2001). In 1997 we contacted also Mrs. Marrale. One of Howard Potts daughters, Deb, was very helping on way of research about crew of this plane. Deb Potts was able find and contact other families like Holladay and Gadberry. The pilot, Hugh Holladay died in 2003, shortly after we set contact with his son.
